Design
your own
summer
experience!

At Camp Ruach, we realize how hectic and busy your family’s summer can be. So we’ve created a day camp experience that offers maximum flexibility and gives your child the opportunity to choose from a range of special activities.

One-Week Sessions & Flexible Times
Camp Ruach’s eight one-week sessions are designed to take your child on a meaningful journey and create lasting relationships —while giving you plenty of scheduling flexibility. Our camp day runs from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm with an optional 8:00 am drop off and afternoon care if you need it. To help your child get the most out of our camp community experience, we recommend registering your child for two or more sessions.

Club Ruach Afternoon Program
Rising 1st – 5th Graders, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
For campers who want to extend the camp fun later into the afternoon, we offer Club Ruach, an optional afternoon program in a relaxed and fun setting. The extended experience means your child gets more time outdoors, more games and crafts, more summer reading and more quality time with caring counselors and friends.

Chugim (Choices)
Each session, campers get to choose from special “chugim” activities that focus on a specific area of interest. Every Monday morning the campers are empowered to design their own week by choosing from activities which may include: Lego Building, Crossfit Kids, Nature Exploration, Basketball Skills, Friendship Bracelet Making, JCC Glee, Bird House Building and many more.

Gesher for Middle Schoolers
Rising 6th – 8th Grade; 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
Gesher (Bridge) provides a more advanced day-camp experience for middle school kids. Designed to build upon their emerging self-awareness and sense of purpose, Gesher offers exciting team-building experiences, service-learning projects, and leadership opportunities. Guided by highly trained staff and specialists, campers enjoy more freedom and greater responsibility. Themed programming includes the exploration of Jewish values and opportunities to work as mentors to younger Camp Ruach campers. In addition to a heavy dose of fun, Gesher also prepares kids for our Counselor in Training program.

Horseback Riding at Carolina Creekside Equestrian Center
Rising 1st – 5th Grade; 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Session 1 (June 10-14)
Session 2 (June 17-21)
Session 6 (July 15-19)
Session 7 (July 22-26)
Our equestrian add-on camp offers your child a safe and fun learning experience that develops confidence and inspires appreciation for horsemanship. For three days each week, campers attend Carolina Creekside Equestrian Center. Working one-on-one with professional instructors and in groups, kids learn to ride and groom while learning about horse safety, nutrition, and tack. This program is limited to 9 campers per week, so early registration is strongly encouraged!
*Please note, if you are signed up for Horseback Riding Camp you will not be going on the weekly field trip.

Camp Tikvah (for children with Autism)
Rising 1st – 5th Grade; 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Session 2 (June 17-21)
Session 3 (June 24-28)
Session 4 (July 1-5)
Session 5 (July 8-12)
The only summer day camp of its kind in Western North Carolina, Camp Tikvah enables children on the autism spectrum to enjoy the fun and community of Camp Ruach in an individually monitored and highly structured program. A collaboration between Autism Consulting and Training, Inc. and Camp Ruach, Camp Tikvah is a unique four-week experience that allows these special kids to participate in as many peer activities as is individually appropriate. Well-trained counselors focus on sensory issues, communication, socialization, and of course, community and fun. All Camp Tikvah staff complete an intensive training with Jennifer Lingle, M.Ed., Director of Autism Consulting and Training, Inc. and Camp Tikvah program director. To ensure Camp Tikvah is the right setting for each child, and because space is limited to six campers per session, families must be interviewed prior to registration. Contact Camp Ruach Director, Seth Kellam to arrange your interview.

Weekly Midot (Values)
Each week we will enrich the theme of building kehila (community) by focusing on a unique Jewish value. These values will be woven into our daily activities through song, visiting specialists, counselor led games and age-appropriate discussion.
