Our total raised as of May 4, 2017: $3,808,015
With the matching challenge grant: $7,616,030
From our humble beginnings in a house on Charlotte Street over 75 years ago, the Asheville JCC has become the central home for Asheville’s Jewish communal life, as well as a place that welcomes countless people from all faiths and backgrounds. We are the primary gateway to Jewish engagement for many young Jewish families who participate in our outstanding early childhood, after school, and summer camp programs. The Asheville JCC reaches out with a warm embrace to people of every age and circumstance who want to connect with and learn about Asheville’s Jewish community.
Today we begin a new chapter in this incredible Jewish journey by embarking upon a significant capital and endowment campaign. Our goal is to create a JCC facility that will have a transformative impact on our ability to sustainably serve the community well into the future.
Each generation of JCC leaders has been dedicated to making the JCC even better for the next generation. As one of our major funders has said, Asheville simply cannot have a strong Jewish community without a vibrant JCC.
The Challenge Grant
We are delighted to announce that we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to receive a challenge grant that will match our successful fundraising efforts. This incredible gift will allow us to double what our community raises, potentially bringing our total to $8 million or higher. There is truly no better time than now for all of us to ensure the ongoing success of our JCC.
Building For the Future
From the JCC’s very beginning, this community has come together with a strong commitment to each other and a belief in the importance of a Jewish Community Center in Asheville. We have seen the incredibly positive force of that commitment realized in our thriving Jewish communal life and stellar programs that serve all of Asheville.
It is time to make some monumental changes which will transform our JCC for the 21st century. Building on our strengths, these changes will provide a solid foundation for our continued prosperity. Intelligently designed spaces will facilitate outstanding experiences for participants and staff. We will more fully actualize our excellent centralized location, as we continue to be the place where Jews and friends of every age, background, and belief feel welcome to gather and explore our rich Jewish heritage.
Just as our dedicated leaders and generous donors have done before, it is time again to ensure that Asheville’s home for Jewish life will continue to serve this community well – today and for generations to come.
