Rising 9th and 10th graders looking for a great summer experience are encouraged to apply for a LIT position. Registration deadline coming soon!
As our ‘in training’ program grows and develops we have decided to change our name from Counselor in Training to Leader in Training to best fit our goals and expectations. The LIT program is a great option for rising 9th and 10th grade students who are looking for their first professional training experience. LITs play an essential role at Camp Ruach and Shalom Children’s Center – they help counselors/teachers make sure all campers/students are engaged and having fun, and are also responsible for other tasks that will help them develop skills and understand what it means to be a professional. LITs will also meet regularly with the Camp Ruach AmeriCorps counselor, Youth Programs Assistant, JCC Youth Director and other JCC professionals for further development and mentorship.
LITs may be eligible for a stipend based on past experience.
Camp Ruach LITs (rising 10th graders) hours are from 9 am – 4:30 pm on Mondays
and 9 am – 3:30 pm Tuesday – Friday.
Shalom LITs (rising 9th graders) hours are from 9 am – 4:30 pm on Mondays
and 9 am – 2 pm Tuesday – Friday.
LITs must have summer availability for a 4- or 8-week commitment.
It is preferred for LITs to work consecutive weeks.
It is mandatory for all LITs to attend one LIT training and LIT/Staff lunch prior to their work at the JCC. LITs can pick from two training dates: Sunday, May 21st from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm OR Sunday, June 11th from 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm.
