Assistant Pod Teacher

Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay Rate (Hourly): $18.00–19.00 per hour 

Overview

Join our welcoming JCC community as an Assistant Pod Teacher in our Shalom Children’s Center! Each Assistant Pod Teacher works within a designated age-group pod—such as the Two’s, Three’s, or Pre-K classrooms—supporting the Lead and Assistant Teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role helps implement lesson plans, encourages social-emotional growth, and ensures compliance with NC DCDEE standards while fostering strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

What You’ll Do

  • Support classroom instruction and child-centered learning within your assigned pod.
  • Foster children’s social-emotional development and classroom community.
  • Maintain safe, organized environments in accordance with NC DCDEE guidelines.
  • Assist in implementing lesson plans and documenting child progress.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff.

What We’re Looking For

  • NC Early Childhood Credential (NCECC), or working toward it
  • At least one year of experience in a preschool environment
  • Strong teamwork, flexibility, and communication skills
  • Ability to actively engage with children and ensure their safety.
  • NC Qualifying Letter (before start date) and CPR/First Aid certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Zoom, communication apps)
