Salary: $55,000-$65,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications
Summary: The Finance Director, under the supervision of the Executive Director, shares in the JCC’s commitment to its mission: strengthening Jewish identity, celebrating Jewish culture, and building inclusive community. As a member of the management team, the Finance Director is responsible for all financial and general administrative functions of the JCC. The Finance Director supports the mission of the JCC by ensuring timely and secure financial transactions for our members and donors, efficient administrative operations for our staff, and accurate reporting for our Board of Directors.

Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Required Experience/Skills:
- 3-5 years experience in accounting or financial management
- Personnel management experience
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and financial accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Nonprofit accounting experience

Financial Management Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all central accounting functions
- Develop and maintain all accounting procedures and policies
- Develop, administer and maintain an effective fiscal management system
- Maintain positive and communicative relationships with financial institutions used by the JCC, and manage loans, mortgages, and other banking relationships
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate Finance staff
- Ensure appropriate and timely collection of receivables and payment of all authorized debts
- Control revenue sources and expenditures to provide optimal cash flow for the organization; ensure appropriate operating funds and investments
- Manage collections and bad debt processes
- Produce accurate monthly financial statements for Board of Directors, committees and staff
- Monitor actual income/expense experience in comparison with budget authorization; identify significant variances for management
- Support Executive Director, Program Directors, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors in annual budgeting process
- Train/supervise front desk staff on point of sale procedures and collections
- Apply for all Sales Tax Refunds in a timely manner
- Pay all collected Sales Tax as required by the State in a timely manner
Legal, Insurance & Auditing
- Prepare appropriate schedules and work with independent auditor on annual audit
- Work with accountant on preparation of tax returns for JCC and for JCC Foundation (endowment organization)
- Complete annual charitable solicitation license application
- Ensure timely production of tax-exempt donation acknowledgement letters for gifts over $200
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls for fraud prevention purposes
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage for all insurable risks
- Assist with documentation and reporting related to potential insurance claims (property, liability, workers compensation, etc.)
- Ensure the safekeeping of all agency assets, including blank checks, legal documents, securities, insurance policies, equipment, etc.
- Ensure proper record retention for the entire organization
Administrative:
- Manage scholarship application intake/analysis process 2 times/year, and staff support to scholarship committee in making financial aid decisions
- Coordinate public childcare voucher program, providing orientation/support for families receiving subsidies and submitting/reconciling all requests for government reimbursement
- Provide staff support to Board Finance Committees
- Serve as liaison to JCC Foundation Board of Directors on endowment investments
- Manage all banking relationships and transactions
- Additional tasks as needed
Human Resources
- Process biweekly payroll through outside payroll vendor
- Coordinate with payroll vender and finance staff to produce W-2s and 1099s
- Manage benefits
- Train new program directors on employee intake/supervision/termination and use of payroll system
- Follow up on all unemployment claims as necessary
Information Technologies
- Coordinate IT support for all employees with IT vendor
- Track equipment purchases and replacement schedules
- Reconcile support invoices to verify charges
Purchasing and Contracts
- Oversee office supply purchases and contracts with copier/postage systems
- Develop and oversee compliance with purchasing policies, and manage organizational credit/vendor accounts
- Develop and oversee an effective inventory system for all agency furniture and equipment, including expendable items and fixed assets
- Serve as liaison with various systems vendors, including telephone, credit card merchant, photocopier/fax/scanner, and IT including negotiating annual contracts and planning for organizational needs
