Gefilte Fish swim team is no longer just a summer sport! The JCC now offers competitive swimming year-round with the same emphasis on great coaching, team building and fun that the summer league offered. Year-round swim team focuses on stroke drills, endurance swimming, diving, turns, and swimming language. Gefilte Fish swim team is open to swimmers ages 6 to 16. Swimmers must be proficient in freestyle and backstroke and must be able to swim 25 yards to participate. Private swim lessons may be recommended to prepare your child for the team.
Gefilte Fish 2018/2019 Swim Practice Schedule:
Gefilte Fish Swim Practice will meet Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs from 4:15-:15 pm during the following dates:
Sept 24-December 13
January 2-March 28
April 29-August 1
Cost: $1250 for ten months, to be paid in $125 monthly payments due the 16th of each month. *Swimmers must register for the entire season (Sept 24 – August 1) in advance in order to participate. Anyone who missed registration at the beginning of the season and wishes to register mid-season, please contact Wendy@jcc-asheville.org for details.
All swimmers on Gefilte Fish swim team must be members of the JCC. Please find information about joining the Jewish Community Center here.
Swimmers must have goggles, swim cap, and appropriate swim wear. *Gefilte fish swim wear is not available at this time.
It is highly recommended that swimmers attend at least TWO practices of each week if they intend to become stronger and more efficient swimmers. There is no refund for unattended practices.

Get ready for Gefilte Fish Swim Team with Developmental Stroke Class!
If your child wants to join the JCC Gefilte Fish Swim Team but isn’t quite ready to swim competitively, sign them up for Developmental stroke class! Developmental stroke class is for children 4-6 years old who would like to improve their stroke technique in preparation for swimming with a team. Swimmers must be able to swim at least 15-25 yards.
