Job Summary: The Pool Deck Manager, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, shares in the JCC’s commitment to the highest quality of programs while maintaining excellent customer service. The Pool Deck Manager works directly with the Aquatics and Wellness Director to perform lifeguarding duties, assist in hire and training of all lifeguard staff and to oversee the daily pool deck and pool facilities/grounds operations. The Pool Deck Manager will be responsible for ensuring positive JCC member relations and will work with all programs of the JCC in order to foster a culture of excellence while building the health and ensuring the safety of JCC members and participants.
The Pool Deck Manager is expected to be safety-focused, an innovative team player, and a positive role model. The Pool Deck Manager supports the mission of the JCC by ensuring the offering of positive interaction that align with Jewish values and build community.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily safety and wellbeing of patrons both in and out of the water with active surveillance
• Assure that all aquatics programming is setup in a timely manner
• During the summer season, supervise additional guard staff and ensuring that all duties and safety requirements are being performed by the staff prior, during, and after shifts
• Attend all in-service trainings
• Ensure that lifeguarding staff are appropriately deployed based on knowledge, skills and abilities
• Formulate, plans, implements and participates in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures as it relates to the pool operations
• Ensure pool facility meets all federal, state, city, county, and department standards, requirements, policies and regulations
• Maintain open communication between staffing offices, management and associates

Qualifications:
Education:
- Current high school students and/or high school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
- At least one year of aquatic management experience, including scheduling and staffing is highly desired
Certifications:
- Certified in Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED from an accredited institution
Physical Requirements:
- Must be willing to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold inclement weather
- Required to know how to swim, and can swim a minimum of 300 yards
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, bending, squatting, walking and climbing up minimal heights
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
