When the Asheville bears climb the fence at the J When the Asheville bears climb the fence at the J in the early morning to enjoy a breakfast of peaches and a little playground leisure time, we stay safely inside, of course — but we also use these moments to teach our Shalom and Camp Ruach kids about Kavod— respect — for all creatures, one of our guiding values. Alongside it, we embrace Simcha — joy — as we smile through the window at our affectionately named visitor, Peaches the bear, who clearly believes the peaches are juicier on the other side of the fence.

Our collective Asheville JCC hearts are with the p Our collective Asheville JCC hearts are with the people of Venezuela as they recover from the devastating earthquakes that have claimed thousands of lives, injured many more, and displaced countless families.
We understand the tragic aftermath of a natural disaster, and we stand in solidarity with the Hebraica Community Center in Caracas. This beloved community center has quickly become a refuge and relief hub for its community, providing shelter, meals, and emergency support to families who have lost their homes. We mourn the members of the Jewish community who lost their lives and hold all those affected in our thoughts as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
If you would like to help, our partners at NECHAMA are accepting donations to support Jewish communal organizations in Caracas as they provide emergency food, shelter, medical care, and other essential relief to displaced families. When making a donation, please include "Venezuela Earthquake Relief" in the comments section of your gift.
Together, guided by our values of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and Ḥosen (resilience) we can extend care and support to our global Jewish family, to first responders and relief workers, and to all those impacted by this tragedy.
