Upcoming volunteer opportunities are listed on the sidebar to the right. Some ongoing opportunities are listed below.
This team of advocates, aged 50 and beyond, meets regularly to learn about and discuss issues and needs in our community and explores how to apply Jewish values to addressing these areas of concern. Mitzvah Corps participants volunteer with the JCC, as well as other Jewish and non-Jewish agencies in the Asheville area. Volunteers contribute their time, skills and experience, while developing relationships with people from different age, cultural, and socio-economic groups. Participants attend gatherings that include discussion, reflection, and analysis, and provide an opportunity to learn about related societal issues and teachings, and that facilitate connections between the volunteering, learning, and overall life experiences. JCC membership is not required to join the Mitzvah Corps.
This is a JCC Mitzvah Corps outreach to elders in the community. We provide the juice, blessings, and challah – you provide the smiles and ruach (spirit in Hebrew). Various locations, 1st and 2nd Fridays of the month. For more information about Welcome Shabbat, email email@example.com
JCC Fundraising Events
Volunteers are needed for event planning and to work before, during and after events.
JCC Kids After-School Tutors and Specialists
Our after-school program is seeking extra helpers to provide special enrichment for the children. Homework tutors, “club” leaders and enrichment specialists are some of the ways to make an impact on our children.
The Bubbie Brigade
A partnership between Shalom Children’s Center and Jewish Family Services, we welcome senior adults to share in the joy of intergenerational experiences by volunteering in our preschool. Zaydies are welcome, too!
Boards and committees
If you have experience in marketing, finance, governance, or fundraising, you might be interested in serving on a board or a committee, where our dedicated community leaders work behind the scenes to help grow the JCC.
Around the JCC
Volunteers are needed to do office work, shopping, facilities improvements, closet cleaning and organizing, cooking, gardening and landscaping, and other general work at the JCC.
