Department: Jewish Lifelong Engagement
Overview: The Jewish Lifelong Engagement Coordinator, under the supervision of the
Jewish Lifelong Engagement Director, shares in the JCC’s commitment to the highest quality of programs while maintaining excellent customer service. The Jewish Lifelong Engagement Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative, data management, and coordination functions that support programming management and community outreach for the JCC.
Principal Responsibilities:
Programming Administrative Support: programs include Brunch B’Yachad, PJ Library, YAJA
(Young Asheville Jewish Adults), TAG (The Adult Group) Welcome Shabbat, Holocaust education, Hanukkah in a Box, Jewish holiday programming, and other educational and social programs in line with the JCC’s mission.
Assist in planning and implementing Jewish cultural and community-building programs:
- Coordinate dates, speakers, refreshments, and supplies
- Train and support volunteer program hosts
- Set up program registrations in database (Daxko, Google or Cognito forms)
- Manage regular communications with program hosts, participants, and members,
including email, phone, and e-newsletter communications - Maintain up-to-date participant data
- Set up and break down programs
- Administer March of the Living scholarship application process
- Act as backup administrator for Challah Club and the weekly eNews
Resource Organization & Oversight:
- Manage JCC gift shop (Shuk) including buying, displaying and inventorying
- Organize and maintain resources such as library and events closet
- Schedule front desk staff and substitute as necessary
Newcomer Engagement:
- Serve as main contact point for newcomers, JCC inquiries, and JLC (Jewish Leadership
Collaborative) inquiries, including providing tours and information - Maintain newcomer data and use this data to proactively communicate with newcomers
- Assist with newcomer reception as needed
- Coordinate with the COOC committee
- Coordinate distribution of and communications about the community High Holiday Pass
Other Agency Responsibilities:
- Attend departmental staff meetings as requested
- Attend periodic JCC All-Staff meetings
- Adhere to all agency policies and procedures
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Problem solver
- Attention to detail
- Jewish background (or the ability and willingness to learn quickly)
- Ability to learn software systems such as Constant Contact, Canva, WordPress and Daxko
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required)
Experience:
- 1 – 2 years of retail or merchandizing experience
- 2+ years of administrative support experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suites
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 boxes
