Developing Skills for Practicing Anti-Racism

September 10, 2020 By Marketing

Developing Skills for Practicing Anti-Racism
Thursday, Sept. 17 • 11:45am-1:15pm
Join Yavilah McCoy, a Black Jewish woman, as she guides our community in reflection and learning about not only what anti-racism is, but what concrete skills we need to put it into practice. Understanding anti-racism as a Jewish value, we’ll focus in this workshop on engaging in honest conversation about personal and communal accountability to grow racial equity and work on language- and skill-building toward transformative action in our collective work to become more deeply anti-racist in practice.

At the Intersection of Racism and Anti-Semitism
Tuesday, Sept. 22 • 7:00-8:30pm
In this workshop, we’ll examine racism and anti-Semitism as related ideologies and work to understand how these ideologies impact the Black and Jewish communities—with particular attention paid to those whose identities lie at the intersection of these two groups. We’ll explore the historical context for Jewish and Black partnership in social justice work and map the current cultural moment in order to develop a common understanding, foster relationships, and build more effective coalitions.
