The JCC’s construction committee includes a number of staff and volunteers who meet regularly with our architects at Clark Nexsen along with the team from construction management firm Beverly Grant. These meetings give us a chance to get updates on the construction and make important decisions about the project. In our meeting this week, we got exciting news that we are very close to opening our new year-round pool. Sound familiar?
Because the new pool has been “very close to completion” for some months now, we thought we’d share the list of remaining tasks that need to be completed before the grand opening can occur.
The main pool has undergone a series of leak tests, which are necessary to ensure that the pool, pipes and gutters are all functioning properly. As is sometimes the case with a new pool, some repairs and waterproofing were deemed necessary. An additional leak test for the main pool and a test of the baby pool will be performed this weekend to ensure that everything is sealed tight. We’ve got our fingers crossed! Following that approval, the main pool’s entry stairs will need a slight repair to ensure that they are level. Once that is completed, we will be ready to plaster and fill both pools.
There has been a delay in delivery of some equipment, and we anticipate that these items will arrive for installation in approximately two weeks. Some additional “punch list” items will be made to the pool building and to the retractable dome in the next couple of weeks.
And that’s it!
Nothing more stands between the old pool (planned to remain open until the new pool is complete) and the fabulous new, year-round pool. Though this list is relatively short, we are still not able to provide a definite opening date. The grand opening date is around the corner, and when it happens, our party will be the talk of the town! We will keep you updated with any additional information about an opening date and/or any changes to the list of tasks to be completed.

Because the new pool grand opening is taking place even later than we thought, all summer pool members and all annual pool members who sign up by Thursday, August 31, will receive the month of September free.
