The session targets two core components: developing explosive power from the blocks and minimizing the initial entry time. Through specialized drills and feedback, participants will learn to refine their stance, maximize leg drive for a powerful launch, and execute a flawless track start or grab start. The clinic emphasizes the physics of a fast start, ensuring swimmers translate quick cognitive reaction times into immediate, streamlined forward momentum
Get Off the Wall with Open Turns
Sunday, February 1, 1:00-3:00pm – $80
This clinic is designed to help swimmers master the open turn, a crucial skill for efficiency in medley events and individual training alike.
Participants will receive focused instruction on the proper technique for approaching the wall, ensuring a quick and legal touch with both hands. Key aspects covered include mastering the speed-generating power of the “feet-first” push-off, timing the transition from stroke to turn, and minimizing drag during the exit. Through targeted drills and personalized feedback from Abbie, swimmers will learn to execute this essential turn with greater confidence, power, and speed.

The AJCC is proud to offer a complimentary “Learn to Swim” water safety lesson, designed for children aged 5 to 10 years old. This initiative focuses on building essential, life-saving water safety skills in a supportive and empowering environment. Instruction will be provided collaboratively by qualified members of the AJCC aquatics staff and dedicated female student-athletes from the UNCA swim team, offering expert guidance and positive role models for young swimmers. This free clinic is the perfect opportunity for young girls to gain confidence and competence in the water, setting up a foundation for a lifetime of safety and enjoyment.
