Reconnect with your JCC friends this summer!

“Parties Around Town” (PAT) is a biennial summer fun(d) raiser for the JCC and we are planning an exciting season! This series of summer parties features a variety of themes, locations, ticket prices, and hosts. Purchase tickets to attend one, a couple, or all of the Parties Around Town! Ticket revenue supports the Asheville JCC.

Sunday, June 25 / 3:00-5:00 pm

The ancient practice of Yoga Nidra will guide you into deep relaxation. Rest in a cocoon of blankets & pillows and relax your body & mind to remember who you are. Yoga Nidra can help manage stress but also has the power to help you release, remember, & renew. All props provided but bring a favorite blanket, comfy socks or pillow, and a journal. No yoga experience is needed.

Join us for a FUNdraising event and meet your new friends. Splash in the kiddie pool, relax on the lawn with PJ Library books and games, and enjoy a spread of donuts, beverages, bagels, and schmear!

In Yiddish, “mensch” roughly means “a good person.”
The word has migrated into American English,
where “mensch” is a particularly good or stand-up person,
someone with the qualities one would hope for in a friend.

You are invited to nominate a mensch (or two) for the Asheville JCC’s 2022 recognition awards: the Phil Cohen Outstanding Volunteer and the JCC Employee of the Year. Awardees will be honored at the JCC’s annual membership meeting in September. Nominations are due by Monday, August 15.

Phil Cohen Outstanding Volunteer Award

New Year and New Friends!

Last week we bit into some crunchy topics like bees and honey, seeds, and we also explored with apples. Apples in our soapy water table, messy artwork and even apples to eat! Thank you for your apple donations to our classroom. We celebrated the new year, Rosh Hashanah by singing and dancing with Penny and Billy Jonas! We heard the shofar blast. This week went by fast! We enjoyed talking about the new year and harvesting foods. Some of the kiddos painted shofars while others explored in the garden. We’ve been working with the fallen leaves and branches this week.

Reminder, TOMORROW October 8 is the last day to add donations for our Raffle Basket which is themed THE GREAT OUTDOORS: Garden and Outdoors!!
